The Stratton Community Foundation (SCF) is officially launching its 2026 fundraising season, putting the spotlight on its premier annual charity event to drive local impact. This year’s Annual Golf Outing is scheduled at the scenic Stratton Mountain Resort Golf Course, serving as the flagship fundraiser to support the region's youth. All tournament proceeds directly fund the Head-To-Toe initiative. This essential program equips 600 local children with critical resources that financially strained households often cannot provide; supplies that are fundamental to a child’s health, personal growth, and academic success. Every golfer will receive a curated welcome gift, with opportunities to win prizes for the Longest Drive and Closest to the Pin. The day concludes with an evening dinner and awards reception. Northshire Bookstore invites Caitlin Shetterly, the acclaimed author of Pete and Alice in Maine, to celebrate her irresistible new novel about a mother who, recovering from the trauma of breast cancer
and a mastectomy, takes a once-in-a-lifetime trip across France with her two daughters. Caitlin will discuss The Gulf of Lions with fellow novelist Caren McVicker. Hildene, The Lincoln Family Home, invites guests to step back in time for a special “lunch & learn” program, Gardens of the Gilded Age, with acclaimed author, speaker, and garden designer Jana Milbocker. She will present her newest book, Gardens of the Gilded Age, during a richly illustrated talk at Lincoln Hall exploring the grand estates and extraordinary gardens created for families such as the Vanderbilts, Rockefellers, and du Ponts. Guests will enjoy a light summer lunch while learning about some of America’s most celebrated Gilded Age gardens. Participants will also tour Hildene’s Formal Garden, which is featured in the book. Guests may register for an optional Gilded Age Tussie-Mussie Workshop from 3pm to 4pm. Led by Hildene Farm Co-Director Ann Ogden-Hausslein, the hands-on workshop will teach participants how to create a tussie-mussie bouquet using fresh flowers from Hildene.

All pie welcome at the most delicious event of the summer! Celebrate America’s 250th birthday with R.K. Kittay Library’s All Kinds of Pie Contest! Contestants must bake two pies – one for judging and one for sale at the event. Judges will select three winning pies to be raffled off to benefit the library. This event is open to all! Don’t bake? Mark your calendars to come out and sample the entries! Lemonade and other treats will also be available for purchase to benefit the library. The first-place winner is invited to ride as the guest of honor on the R.K. Kittay Library float in this year’s Rupert Old Homes Days parade!

A new community wellness initiative is coming to the heart of Manchester Center this summer. The Summer in the Park Series, which launched on July 12, will take place every Sunday afternoon on the Manchester Town Green (skipping August 2). Hosted by Yoga Fun Day and The OM Festival, this weekly gathering is completely free and donation-based. Set next to the river and summer flowers, the series features a playful, all-ages combo yoga class designed specifically for families and kids, accompanied by relaxing, light background music from the park gazebo. No registration is required. Families and community members are invited to bring a mat or towel and simply show up to enjoy a peaceful weekend wind-down. The next one is this Sunday, July 19! Manchester Music Festival’s (MMF) Artistic Director Philip Setzer guides audiences through a vivid, varied dreamscape in sound, a journey epitomized by Paul Epstein's aptly titled “Dream Sonata,” which leaps from Viennese ballroom sounds to midwestern ragtime in the blink of an ear. The program blazes a similarly unlikely yet harmonious path, from the courtly “String Quartet” of Benjamin Franklin (yes, really) to Samuel Barber's elegiac “Adagio for Strings,” by way of Scott Joplin, Amy Beach, and Carlos Simon. The Program, which takes place at the Southern Vermont Arts Center’s Arkell Pavilion, includes: Benjamin Franklin – “String Quartet”; Paul Epstein – “Dream Sonata”; Amy Beach – “Serenade”; Carlos Simon – “Sleep Well”; Scott Joplin – “Maple Leaf Rag” and “The Entertainer”; and Samuel Barber – “Adagio for Strings.” Artists: Philip Setzer, violin; Paul Epstein, piano; and Festival Young Artists. Next Stage Arts continues its Bandwagon Summer Series with a Folk, Roots, & Americana Music Festival at Robertson Paper Company Field. Featuring acclaimed Americana favorites The Mammals, veteran singer-songwriter Michael Veitch Band, and rising folk quartet Doozy Jane, the festival celebrates the enduring power of song, storytelling, and community. Headlining the event, The Mammals bring their signature blend of high-energy Americana, string-band virtuosity, and socially conscious songwriting. Together, these three bands create a rich tapestry of folk traditions, modern roots music, and Americana spirit. Food vendors include Smokin' Bowls, Taza Afghan Foods + Catering, and The Blue Pig. Weston Theater Company (WTC) presents Rent, an urgent, ardent, and alive with possibility, groundbreaking rock musical that reveals what it means to love fiercely in uncertain times. Set in New York City’s East Village at the height of the AIDS crisis, Rent tells the story of a group of friends navigating love and loss, creativity, and chosen family. Based on Puccini's La Boheme, Rent transforms the timeless power and resonance of that classic story into something immediate, electric, and utterly of the moment. It’s time again for Southern Vermont’s Rock River Artists' 33rd Annual Open Studio Tour! Nine outstanding artists and fine craftspeople in media are featured, from raku pottery to painting and thread-on-fabric to glass work. Pick up a tour map at the South Newfane Schoolhouse, 387 Dover Rd. in South Newfane, where participating artists present a group show. Then begin a self-guided tour of the studios, all within a short driving distance. Artists on the 2026 tour are: Brittany Bills-Coleman, pressed Artifex; Chris Darrow, hand-built clay forms; Richard Foye, raku pottery; Lily Lyons, paint and glass; Gayle Robertson, painting; Gianna Robinson, painting; Deidre Scherer, thread-on-fabric; Matthew Tell, pottery; and T.
