As 2024 comes to a close, FMHR invites you to congratulate yourself for all the hard work and dedication you've put forth this year. Before you head out for the holidays, or while you’re recharging during your break, take a moment to reflect on your wins — the projects completed, challenges overcome, or ways you supported your team when it mattered the most. Also, recognize the losses or goals that you did not accomplish. There’s growth in those experiences too, and they help shape how we move forward.

These reflections, both the wins and the challenges, can lay the groundwork for how you want to show up in 2025. How do you plan to push boundaries, step up, and make an impact? The new year gives all of us a fresh opportunity to do just that. It all comes down to your mindset and the perspective you choose to bring.  Take pride in the work you’ve done this year, and when you’re ready, let’s lean into 2025 with intention and energy to keep moving forward.

There are still spaces available for UMPD's Spring Citizens Police Academy. The Academy provides an informal academy experience with classroom activities and discussion, as well as hands-on activities. The Academy experience will also include practical exercises and scenarios faced by police officers and an opportunity to participate in a ride along with an officer.  Sessions are held every Wednesday, from 5:30 - 8:30 p.m., beginning Feb. 5, 2025, through April 30 (dinner provided).  No class the week of spring break.
