February 2020
We recently welcomed Christine Stewart-Nuñez ‘91 back to DCHS to speak to students about her published poetry and professional writing career. Stewart-Nuñez is an English professor at South Dakota State University and the South Dakota Poet Laureate (2019-2023). She is the author of four poetry books whose work has appeared in Arts & Letters and North American Review among other magazines. We are thankful for the inspirational words and insight she shared. Members of the Allen family attended the NHRA Arizona National Drag Race and visited Ashley Allen '19 at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix where she is a freshman.
Three generations of the Allen family have graced the halls of Dowling Catholic. Frank Allen II '58 has been volunteer greeter at DCHS for more than 20 years. We are grateful for his friendship, service and hard work. He traveled to Arizona with his sons, Frank Allen III '85, executive director for REACH in Papillon, NE; Marcus Allen '90, a police officer in Colorado Springs, CO; and Gregory Allen '91, a construction superintendent in Des Moines.
Bryan Boesen '94 has been promoted to Managing Director of Morgan Stanley's Des Moines Wealth Management office. Boesen was also recently named to Forbes Magazine's list of America's Best-in-State Wealth Advisors, receiving the top ranking in the state of Iowa for the second time in the last three years.
Clare Duwelius '08 was recently featured in a story highlighting her career and current position as Assistant General Manager for the WNBA team the Minnesota Lynx. Duwelius was a four-sport athlete at Dowling Catholic before she began her four-year collegiate basketball career at Wayne State College where she led the Wildcats to the NCAA Elite Eight in 2012.
