The Kimball Bridge Road Bridge is Now Open! |
The Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) celebrated a significant milestone on May 8, 2024, with the opening of the new Kimball Bridge Road bridge over State Route (SR) 400 in Alpharetta.
| |
This marked the end of a year-long construction effort that began when the old bridge was closed on May 8, 2023. The new bridge was completed on time, featuring a raised profile, a multiuse path and sidewalk and two additional lanes with a raised median. As the project nears completion, final activities such as roadway striping, installation of decorative fencing and pavers and general clean-up will be conducted over the coming months.
The replacement of the Kimball Bridge Road bridge is part of a larger initiative by Georgia DOT to enhance transportation infrastructure in the Metro Atlanta area. Georgia DOT expressed gratitude to the City of Alpharetta, local law enforcement and the community for their support and patience throughout the construction process.

Kimball Bridge Road Gap Connection Project Moves Forward |
The Kimball Bridge Road Corridor Multimodal Gap Connection project is making significant progress.
This project will create a shared-use path connection between the Kimball Bridge Road Widening project by the City of Alpharetta and the bridge replacement over GA 400, a part of the GA 400 Express Lanes project by GDOT. This new path will be 450-feet long, parallel to the road, designed to ensure safety and convenience for pedestrians and cyclists, while encouraging sustainable transportation.
We are excited to see the progress being made on this essential project and look forward to its completion.
