Next Dean's Den: Professors Bornstein & Green to Discuss Work

In the next Dean’s Den to be held at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 22 in Robinson Courtroom, Dean Brietta Clark will host a conversation with Professors Stephanie Bornstein and Tristin Green about The Legal DEI Project, an educational initiative they recently launched with two other law professors. Professors Bornstein and Green will share a bit about their own backgrounds and the Project’s goals, after which we will explore its larger implications. What can we draw from this Project about the role of lawyers, business leaders, and workers in efforts to prevent bias and discrimination today? What do lawful nondiscrimination efforts look like in the face of current efforts to "eliminate DEI”? As laws and social norms flex and shift, how do longstanding laws like the Civil Rights Act of 1964 provide space for debates about what it means to discriminate because of race, sex, gender identity, religion, national origin, and other protected traits? Policing L.A. Forum to View Failed Law Enforcement Oversight

The Policing L.A. Forum, part of the Loyola Anti-Racism Center, will host a panel at 12 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 7 in Burns Lounge as they look at "10 Years of Failed Law Enforcement Oversight in L.A. County." Panelists will include Professors Eric Miller and Sean Kennedy; L.A. County Inspector General Max Huntsman; "Check the Sheriff" Co-Chair Stephanie Luna; Chief Deputy L.A. County Inspector General Dara Williams; and Miriam Aroni Krinsky, executive director, Fair and Just Prosecution.
