Javits Center STEAM Installation
The melding of science and art at Stony Brook has taken the form of an innovative, interactive origami installation in the Javits Center. The exhibit — a collaboration between the Origami Club at SBU, the Vertically Integrated Projects Bioengineering Education, Application and Research (VIP BEAR) team and the Biomedical Engineering Society — began with their motivation to beautify student spaces with STEM-inspired artwork created by the community. Get educated, get screened and get involved in your own heart health at Stony Brook University Hospital.
The following events will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Resilience Room at The Brook, located off the SBUH main level (Level 5):
  • Blood Pressure Screenings: Wednesdays
  • Heart Failure Week Education: Feb. 12 and 13
  • Cholesterol Screenings: Feb. 12 and 19
  • Education and Giveaways: Feb. 26
There is also an evening event from Feb. 24, at 11 p.m. to Tuesday, Feb. 25 at 1 a.m. held outside the hospital cafeteria.

GESTURES & CLUSTERS On view through February 19, GESTURES & CLUSTERS: Two Collaborative Soundscapes, an immersive sound art installation at the Staller Center’s Zuccaire Gallery. Tuned to take advantage of the Zuccaire Gallery's architectural resonances and acoustics, while allowing individuals to experience their own soundscapes as they navigate the spaces. A Day of Events with the Artists Join the Zuccaire Gallery Wednesday, February 19, for a day of programming with artists John Driscoll, Phil Edelstein and Cecilia Lopez. Organized in conjunction with GESTURES & CLUSTERS: Two Collaborative Soundscapes. Events are free and open to the public. RSVP encouraged.

Regional Grant Application Writing Workshop February 27 | Wang Center | Researchers in the Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences are invited to register for a full-day workshop for the Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences featuring representatives from the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) and the American Council of Learned Societies (ACLS). RAD Training Stony Brook University Police
is offering Rape Aggression Defense (R.A.D.) Training: Women's Only Self-Defense. This class will develop and enhance the options of self defense so they may become viable considerations to the woman who is attacked. Classes are on Wednesdays from 5:30 to 7p.m. at the Rec Center. Please register on the SBU Recreation and Wellness app, Rec On The Go, at least 24 hours before the class. Pre-College Summer Program Returns for 2025 Know a high school student looking to level up their summer? Stony Brook’s Pre-College Summer Program (PCS) offers experiential courses in a wide range of subjects, from dental sciences and health professions to engineering and computational linguistics. New this year: PCS participants are eligible for Future Seawolves Scholarships! Sign up your student by March 7 to score a $100 discount on the program fee.
