Preds staff and partners build new KaBOOM! playground in three days

During the week of Nov. 3-5, over 120 volunteers from the Nashville Predators staff and local partners built a new KaBOOM! playground for the students at Nashville Classical Charter School. The playground was designed by the students and features two slides, climbing walls, monkey bars and more! The students at Nashville Classical used to walk a quarter mile to a playground across the street; now they can walk right outside their school!

This build was our 10th KaBOOM! playground build in the past 10 years. KaBOOM! is a national non-profit committed to ending play space inequity for good. We are grateful for our partnership with KaBOOM! and that we are able to bring play spaces to deserving kids. Thank you to all our volunteers, KaBOOM! and our partners: 102.5 the Game, 102.9 the Buzz, Hunt Brothers Pizza, Jackson, NES and Piedmont Natural Gas for their support. It was a fantastic three days that ended with GNASH and the students cutting the ribbon on their brand new playground.

Hockey Fights Cancer Night raises nearly $70,000

Bridgestone Arena was lit in lavender on Saturday, Nov. 13 as we hosted the first of our two Hockey Fights Cancer Nights this season. Through donations, our in-game silent auction and online Hockey Fights Cancer store, we raised nearly $70,000. These funds will be donated to the 365 Pediatric Cancer Fund presented by Twice Daily, which benefits the Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt. We also welcomed friends and cancer survivors from the Children's Hospital who served as our Hockey Fights Cancer Ambassadors. Preds Foundation and 365 Fund present check for $335,000.21 to Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt

Prior to puck drop of our Hockey Fights Cancer game, a check was presented for $335,000.21 to the Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt on behalf of the 365 Pediatric Cancer Fund presented by Twice Daily. This money was raised over the past season from players, fans, Preds employees and partners. Since the 365 Fund's inception in the 2012-13 season by Pekka Rinne and former captain Shea Weber, more than $3.6 million has been donated to the life-saving pediatric cancer research at the Children's Hospital.

Predators staff deliver 150 Thanksgiving meals to Nashville families

Each year, the Preds staff purchase and deliver Thanksgiving meals for local charities and their families. This year, we made 150 deliveries to the families of Caring Hearts Ministries, Elmahaba Center, FrankTown Open Hearts, From your Father and Safe Haven Family Shelter.

We also teamed up with the Metro Nashville Police Department to deliver turkeys and fixings to homes around Nashville. Our Thanksgiving outreach program is something we love to do each year to help fill up plates of those in need!

Nashville Adult Literacy Council announced as first SuperGrant recipient this season

Last month, in partnership with SmileDirectClub, we announced the first SuperGrant recipient of the 2021-22 season is the Nashville Adult Literacy Council (NALC). NALC is a non-profit that helps teach reading, writing and English-speaking skills to Nashville-area adults. NALC received $70,000 which will help fund their virtual tutor program, program licenses and give them the ability to hire a new staff member to help run the program. This SuperGrant will directly impact our community's literacy rate.

The SuperGrant program began in the 2019-20 season as part of our partnership with SmileDirectClub. SuperGrants range from $25,000 to $100,000. Since the 2019-20 season, nine Middle Tennessee organizations have received a SuperGrant.

Hearts of Gold Spotlight

Our Preds staff love getting out into the community and volunteering! Each full-time staff member is encouraged to volunteer at least 40 hours of service throughout the course of each season with a company-wide goal of serving 8,000 hours per year! This month, in partnership with Hunt Brothers Pizza, our staff fed teachers and staff at John Early Magnet Middle as part of our monthly Feeding the Frontlines initiative. Everyone received pizza, snacks, drinks and Preds swag to brighten their day! If you have volunteer opportunities available, please contact Anna Myers at amyers@nashvillepredators.com.

Toy Drive on Dec. 4

On Saturday, Dec. 4, we will host a toy drive with the Nashville Fire Department. Fans can bring new, unwrapped toys to the main and south doors before the game versus the Canadiens. To purchase toys from the Amazon Wish List, click below!

December Blood Drive

This month, we will host our final blood drive of 2021 with the American Red Cross of Tennessee. The drive will take place Dec. 27-31 at various locations around the state. Roll up your sleeves and save a life SMASHVILLE. Through our 2021 blood drives, we've saved over 12,000 lives.

Luke Kunin T1D Fund

Last month, Preds forward Luke Kunin announced the launch of the Luke Kunin T1D Fund. Luke's fund benefits JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation). Luke, who's lived with Type 1 Diabetes since he was 12 years old, invites families from the JDRF Tennessee chapter to each Preds home game as his guests. To support Luke's program, click below!

Grades & Blades presented by Fifth Third Bank is a FREE skating program that creates leaders of the future through skating skills, time management and life skills.
