Celebrating 60 Years at Mountain Gap 
Council Member Robinson, along with Madison County Commissioner Phil Riddick and Mountain Gap Elementary School PTA President Jordan Gibbs, attended the school’s 60th anniversary celebration. The event brought members of the community, past and present teachers, administrators and students together to commemorate 60 years of academic excellence at Mountain Gap.

Gray Operations Group Ribbon Cutting
Council Member Robinson attended the recent ribbon cutting for Gray Operations Group, located in the Freedom Real Estate office building in Hays Farm. Gray Operations Group specializes in helping businesses improve their operational procedures through strategic solutions. Their mission is to streamline operations for businesses at all stages of growth.

Meet Goose: HPD's Specialized K-9
Goose, a two-year-old black lab part of Huntsville Police Department's K-9 Unit, attended the March 12 City Council meeting and met Council Member Robinson. Goose, accompanied by Officer Chad Schrader, is an Electronic Storage Detection (ESD) K-9 trained to help officers locate hidden electronic devices that may hold critical evidence in crimes, such as trafficking. Unlike a typical K-9, Goose is trained to detect the chemical signatures emitted from cell phones, hard drives, USB drives, SD cards and hidden cameras.

Big Spring Park Expansion Underway  
Work has started on the Big Spring Park expansion at the former City Hall site and General Services Director Ricky Wilkinson provides an early update in this video. The project will add about 2.4 acres to Big Spring Park on the east side of Church Street and include amenities such as accessible walking paths throughout the site, an event pavilion and public restrooms.

Get Colorful at Sidewalk Chalk Festival
A new tradition from South Huntsville Main Business Association, Arts Huntsville and the Huntsville-Madison County Public Library is returning to District 3. The second-annual South Huntsville Sidewalk Chalk Festival is Saturday, April 4, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Sandra Moon Community Complex, 7901 Bailey Cove Rd. SE. The free, family-friendly event brings the community together to transform sidewalks into colorful art displays using chalk. Food trucks with food for purchase will be on site as well as community booths and activities.

Mayor's Youth Advisory Council Opens Applications 
Applications are now open for high school students to be a part of the Mayor’s Youth Advisory Council’s 2026-27 cohort. The Council is a yearlong leadership and civic engagement program that empowers high school students to learn about local government and serve their community. The deadline to apply is Tuesday, April 21.

Huntsville Business Leaders Visit Montgomery
Huntsville and Madison County were well represented with more than 120 people traveling to Montgomery on March 3-4 for the Huntsville/Madison County Chamber of Commerce’s annual trip to the state capital. The group heard from state leaders presenting on a variety of topics and the trip culminated with a luncheon keynote address by Gov. Kay Ivey.
