Millions in federal COVID funds coming to Tucson's Fox, Rialto theaters

When Fox Tucson Theatre last month announced its lineup of 50-plus concerts beginning this fall, Executive Director Bonnie Schock was banking on the federal government to come through with much-needed relief to pay the artists.

Late last month, she was notified that the historic downtown theater at 17 W. Congress St. would receive $1.4 million — roughly 45% of the theater’s 2019 earned revenue that it missed out on in 2020 while the venue remained shuttered due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Meet Russ Stone, Downtown Safety & Maintenance Director

Tuesday, July 6 marked 12 years Downtown Safety & Maintenance Director Russ Stone has been with the Downtown Tucson Partnership! Russ is the backbone of our clean and safe team, overseeing a Downtown Ambassador staff of 15 people. He is the epitome of what it means to care for downtown.

A born and raised Tucsonan, Russ's favorite downtown food/beverage spot is Berry Greens Acai & Juice Bar. His favorite downtown building is the Historic Pima County Courthouse. He gets his haircuts at Danny's Downtown Barbershop. His favorite part of working downtown is the variety of people, buildings, and things to see. And his favorite hobby outside of work is all things cars, trucks and motorcycles. If you see Russ out and about, Caring For Downtown, be sure to say "hello" and thank him for all that he does to keep Downtown Tucson clean and safe. Thank you, Russ!
