D1 Town Hall Recap
Council Member Devyn Keith hosted a well-attended D1 Town Hall on March 26 at the Dr. Robert Shurney Legacy Center. Topics of discussion included the future Food City project, renovated James C. Crawford Park as well as the latest on the Northern Bypass and commercial and residential development. Residents had numerous questions and comments about infrastructure, including the status of several road resurfacing projects. Council Member Keith thanks all those who attended, asked questions and listened.
Terry Heights Community Meeting
Terry Heights is a dynamic, evolving neighborhood teeming with vitality, boasting a diverse blend of young professionals, families and retirees. At a recent gathering of the Terry Heights Community, we delved into various subjects concerning residents, addressing inquiries regarding code enforcement and zoning regulations within residential areas. Such assemblies serve as vital platforms for disseminating information to those who are unable to attend City Council, Planning or Board of Zoning Adjustments meetings at City Hall.  As your D1 representative, I am honored to facilitate these conversations and advocate for strong neighborhoods.
Safe Police Encounters
There was a strong turnout for the Huntsville Police Citizens Advisory Council’s March meeting, which focused on safe police interactions. Following a presentation by officers and HPCAC members, attendees engaged in healthy and productive discussions. Everyone learns from each other. Watch the HPCAC calendar for additional opportunities to engage with Huntsville law enforcement.
Community Appropriations
Council Member Keith recently appropriated funds to Jemison High School to support the band’s travels this fall and help maintain instruments. He is also appropriating funds to the Rosetta James Scholarship Foundation’s Career Readiness Education Mentoring Program. Keith said he’s supporting these programs because they bolster the City’s music ecosystem and help shape our youngest citizens into community leaders.

Community Development Week
The first week of April is Community Development Week, which is a great time to recognize the important works by the City’s Community Development Office and dozens of dedicated volunteers. Each year, Community Development endeavors to make improvements to homes in our community for people who meet eligibility requirements. It’s a great initiative made possible thanks to funding from a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), a program celebrating its 50th anniversary this year.
