TAMUS Research Excellence Fund Internal Processes |
In response to the TAMUS Research Excellence Fund (REF) solicitation, RIED has developed the following webpage to provide Tarleton State researchers with the internal REF submission information and guidelines.
TAMUS Research Excellence Fund – Internal Submission Information
Please note Tarleton State University is limited on the number of total proposal submissions and on the total number of awarded projects we can receive. In order for RIED to review, approve and submit a proposal, an internal deadline has been set for each REF program.
We highly encourage you all to strategically connect with your TAMUS colleagues to provide collaborative support on REF proposals external to Tarleton State's submissions. As needed, RIED is here to facilitate cross-institutional collaboration for Tarleton State faculty and researchers.
Direct specific TAMUS REF program questions to TAMUS via ref@tamus.edu.
No NOISE Form required for TAMUS REF proposal submission.
UPCOMING PROGRAMS:
Research Equipment Grant
Faculty Fellowship Grant
Submission Deadline: May 1, 2026
Specific internal submission details are listed on our internal TAMUS REF Guidelines webpage.
If you have questions regarding the remaining REF programs, please do not hesitate to reach out to RIED.

NSF Compliance Update: Research Security Training Required for Post‑Award Actions |
|
|
The National Science Foundation (NSF) has expanded its Research Security Training (RST) requirements to include Post Award administration for NSF‑funded projects. While Research Security Training has been required for senior/key personnel at the proposal stage since October 2025, this requirement now also applies after an award is made and impacts how NSF awards are administered. Effective immediately, all senior/key personnel on NSF awards—including senior/key personnel on subawards—must complete the Research Security Training before Post Award actions can be processed. This includes, but is not limited to:
New award set‑up
No‑cost extensions (NCEs)
Key personnel changes
Budget revisions
Subaward requests
Principal Investigators are responsible for ensuring that required training is completed by themselves, their project personnel, and any subaward senior/key personnel. Training must be completed in TrainTraq (Course #2114875), and completion certificates must be provided for the NSF project file to postawardREID@tarleton.edu. The Post Award team will be reaching out to NSF PIs with additional guidance and next steps.
Thank you for your cooperation in maintaining compliance with NSF requirements.
