Move Up week is right around the corner

Move Up week is a time when our current students learn what is next for them at SCA. We debunk some myths about middle school and high school, as well as get our students excited about their next step.

All students in PreK through 5th grade, as well as our current 8th graders join in the fun of Move Up week.

Move Up week schedule

8th grade to HS: 8am-1pm, Monday, March 6, with parent info night March 7, 6-8pm
5th grade to MS: 11:25am-2:35pm Thursday, March 9, with parent info day March 10, 2:45-3:45pm
PreK-4th grade: 1:40-2:20 p.m. Thursday, March 9

These are student only events during the day, so be sure and ask your student about them!

Now through March 31, all families re-enrolling their students enjoy priority placement for the 2023-24 school year.

On April 1 - no joke - new families will start taking up any open spots. Demand and inquries from new families is through the roof and we want to make sure that you and your student have their spot reserved today.

Housewares Drive

The SCA National Honor Society club is sponsoring a "General Housewares Drive" for the Northwest Furniture Bank here in Tacoma.

Collection bins will be set up in the gym lobby and the front office lobby and donations will be received from Monday, February 27 through Friday, March 10.

Lions boys basketball wins again

The Sound Christian boys basketball team defeated Riverside Christian 61-52 on Saturday to advance in the Class 1B state tournament.

The Lions will face Moses Lake Christian at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Spokane Arena in an elimination game. The winner will advance to Thursday's quarterfinals.

Kona Resseau led the Lions with 17 points and added five assists, four rebounds and three steals. Makai Ressea had 14 points, three rebounds and three assists, Michael Coffman had 12 points — all on 3-pointers — and 6-foot-6 forward David Mesler completed a double-double with 10 points and 16 boards.

Elementary students wowed by ballet special

Our elementary students received a real treat Thursday and it wasn't just the late start/snow on the ground.

Paradosi Ballet Company performed for our students, putting on a beautiful display of ballet set to Christian music. The interdenominational Christian ministry sets aside their theological differences to come together to share the love of Jesus Christ through dance, drama and personal witness.

New club launching for all ages

We are pleased to announce a new club launching this week called the Multi Language Learners Club.

The club will center around preparing for the spring concert/art showcase, which has an international theme this year.

There are two aspects of the spring concert that the MLL Club will spend time preparing for:

Multi-language reading centered on the gospel
Creating trifolds and designing booths representing each country

As part of the showcase, elementary students will be learning songs in Swahili, Japanese and Russian.

The club will meet Feb. 28, March 28, April 25 and May 30 at 12:30 p.m.
