Announcing Closure of the ReStore |
|
|
|
Habitat for Humanity–Clinton County announces that its Habitat ReStore located at 1032 W. Main St., Wilmington, will be permanently closing on or before May 31, 2026. This decision comes after careful consideration of the store’s operations and reflects the organization’s commitment to responsibly steward its resources and uphold its fiduciary responsibility to the affiliate.
For years, the Habitat ReStore has been a valued part of the Clinton County community—providing affordable home improvement items, furniture, and household goods while supporting Habitat’s mission to build safe, affordable, and energy-efficient homes locally.
“This was not an easy decision,” said Roger Harding, Board Member and ReStore Committee Chairperson. “We are deeply grateful to everyone who has supported the ReStore—our customers, donors, volunteers, and staff. Your generosity and dedication have made a meaningful difference for families in our community. As we look ahead, we remain committed to being good stewards of our resources so we can continue building homes, communities, and hope right here in Clinton County.”
Habitat for Humanity–Clinton County will continue its core mission of partnering with local families to create affordable homeownership opportunities. The impact of the ReStore will live on through the homes built and lives changed because of the community’s support.
Customers are encouraged to visit the ReStore prior to closing for final sales and additional information regarding remaining operations. Updates will be shared on our website and social media channels.

Summer home maintenance tips |
|
|
|
Summer is just around the corner! We’re sharing a helpful home maintenance checklist to get you ready for the season—just remember to keep safety top of mind as you tackle your projects.
□ Remove debris from gutters, eaves, troughs and down-pipes. Hose them out and ensure good drainage flow.
□ Examine window and door seals and repair as necessary. This will cut down on energy costs for cooling.
□ Examine and repair grout in bathrooms and tile floors to prevent moisture damage materials' shrinkage may occur during the hot season
□ Inspect and lubricate garage door roller shafts (do not attempt to adjust door springs yourself - always call a technician).
□ Lubricate locks on doors and windows with silicone spray.
□ Check window screens and screen doors for tears if installed.
□ Check the condition of concrete slabs and sidewalks and asphalt driveways - repair cracks as necessary.
□ Make sure sprinklers and hoses are not directed against the outside of the house.
□ Make sure that plants and bushes do not grow up against the outside of the house (moisture can stay trapped and not dry causing damage).
□ Check all landscaping and outdoor features to ensure good drainage away from the house, if the ground has settled or water is running back toward the house.
□ Make sure all your drainage systems are working properly and that water drains away from your home. If it does not, take corrective actions immediately.
□ Check to ensure there are no insects or vermin getting into your home.
