Nearly 170 campus organizations are open to our students. Ask your student about their experience at the Involvement Fair that was held on September 5.
Some good advice for students:
  • Resist the temptation to join too many groups.
  • It’s normal to not know anyone at an initial meeting.
  • Stretching your comfort zone is what college is all about.
It’s never too early — or too late to start thinking about career goals. Some tips from the Knowlton Center for your student:
  • Activate their Handshake profile, our one-stop virtual career center that includes all our career exploration resources, internships and job postings, and signups for career programs and coaching appointments.
  • Make an appointment with a career coach, whether they are a first-year just starting to explore career options, a sophomore or junior who wants to practice interviewing skills, or a senior-focused on securing a job or applying to graduate school.
  • Read the Knowlton Note (sent each Monday)
Family members can get connected to the Knowlton Center as well!
  • Offer an internship — Internships are longer-term opportunities (usually 6 to 10 weeks) for students to work at an organization. They can be paid or unpaid. If you’re interested in learning more about hosting a Denison intern email career@denison.edu and include “Internship Opportunity” in the subject line.
  • Meet the team and learn more about the Knowlton Center over Big Red Weekend. Come to our Networking Reception from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 27, and to our Open Houses from 1 to 4 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 27, and from 9 to 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 28.
Denison students Denison in the fall
This fall, the Class of 2022 will be encouraged to begin exploring opportunities for study abroad. Most will pursue semester study during their junior year, while others will participate in a short-term program over the summer or semester break. We encourage students to explore the various Denison-approved programs online at globaltools.denison.edu. Detailed information about the process of proposing off-campus study, deadlines, policies, finances, scholarships and more can be found at globaltools.denison.edu. We look forward to advising your student in the selection of an off-campus program, and we encourage your participation in planning for this exciting academic opportunity.
With the opening of the Eisner Center for the Performing Arts, students can experience dance, music, theatre and other arts as an active participant or an engaged audience member. Sign up here to receive a monthly email of Arts@Denison events.
Big Red Weekend Big Red Weekend
Some dates of interest to keep in mind:
An incredible networking and professional development for your student in which alumni entrepreneurs and innovators lead sessions on leadership, raising capital, and branding, just to name a few.
Big Red Weekend is our annual celebration of all things Denison. A partial list of highlights includes:
  • A Conversation with the President
  • Arts events
  • Athletics events
  • Food truck lunch
Over fall break, students can stay on campus or return home. Denison partners with SHARE, a shuttle service to and from the Columbus airport. Students will be notified when they can sign up for a one-way or round-trip fare. Airport shuttles also will be available for Thanksgiving and winter breaks with the same service.

Thank you for partnering with Denison to support your student’s success. We are so pleased that you and your student are part of the Denison family.
Go Big Red!
