Adult Stem Cell Transplantation
Program Update
Dear Colleague:

It is our pleasure to share an update on the Adult Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation Program (HSCT) at Dana-Farber/Brigham and Women’s Cancer Center (DF/BWCC). According to the 2016 Transplant Center-Specific Survival Report published by the Center for International Blood and Marrow Transplant Research (CIBMTR), our program exceeded expected outcomes for allogeneic transplant patients. In 2016, only 9% of the centers evaluated achieved this rating. We are extremely proud that our program continually exceeds expected outcomes as established by CIBMTR.

As you may know, CIBMTR reports and analyzes outcomes for recipients of allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplant by measuring one-year overall survival. You can review our center-specific data on the National Marrow Donor Program web site, by entering Dana-Farber/Brigham and Women’s Cancer Center in “Search by center”.

About Our HSCT Program

DF/BWCC’s HSCT program is one of the largest and most experienced in the nation. We’ve performed more than 8,200 transplants since 1972, averaging 500 per year.  We perform transplants using a variety of donor types, including autologous, allogeneic, haploidentical, and cord blood.  In addition, we have one of the nation’s most experienced unrelated donor search teams, helping patients find the best possible donor in the shortest timeframe and at the lowest possible cost. Our active research enterprise focuses on preventing and managing graft-versus-host disease; new therapies to make transplant more effective; as well as quality, safety and operations studies to continually improve our program.
