Hidden Barriers

You are invited to participate in Social Security’s next National Disability Forum on Equity in SSA Programs: Hidden Barriers.The virtual forum is Wednesday, September 15, 2021, 10 am-3 pm (with a break for lunch).

The purpose of the forum is to hear from stakeholders, advocates, claimants, representatives, and the public about the President’s Executive Order On “Advancing Racial Equity and Support for Underserved Communities Through the Federal Government” and its programs. Click here to learn more.

Back to School We Go

It's Back to School time and students in our KFICCC and After All programs celebrated with a special surprise–colorful backpacks donated by JC Penney at the Westfield Wheaton Mall! We are so grateful for this thoughtful gift and welcome the JC Penney team as a wonderful new inclusion partner!

Metro Station Closures

MCDOT has announced that the Rockville and Shady Grove Metro stations will close for three months from September 11 through December 4, 2021 to allow work crews to demolish and replace the concrete canopy at the Rockville Metro station. Free shuttle buses will replace trains and take riders to and from the closed stations (between Shady Grove and Twinbrook stations). Click here for more information.

Vaccine booster available for immunocompromised

Vax Booster Available to Immunocompromised

Residents with compromised immune systems can now receive a third additional dose of the Pfizer or Moderna COVID-19 vaccines at locations throughout Montgomery County, including local pharmacies, doctors offices and County-operated clinics. Guidance shared by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends a third dose for people currently receiving cancer treatment and people who are taking medications that weaken the immune system, among other conditions. The Arc’s National Convention is an opportunity to connect virtually and learn with advocates, professionals, people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and their families.
