Downtown Heater Program Warming Up Local Businesses

Through the new Downown Heater Program, Downtown Tucson Partnership and HSL Properties provided 40 outdoor heaters and fuel to local downtown businesses in support of safe outdoor dining in Downtown Tucson. Heaters were distributed to a total of 23 downtown businesses on February 9 and 10.

UArizona Alfie Norville Gem & Mineral Museum is One Step Closer to Opening

The University of Arizona Alfie Norville Gem & Mineral Museum is one step closer to opening, with the buildout and renovation of its space at the historic Pima County Courthouse in downtown Tucson now complete.

The new 12,000-square-foot facility will display more than 2,200 gems and minerals from collections held by the University of Arizona and loan partners. The museum's three main galleries and new showcases will focus on the evolution of minerals, minerals native to Arizona and Mexico, gemstones, jewelry and gem science. Visitors of all ages will be able to take part in hands-on, interactive activities.

COMMON + La Suprema Member Blood Drive : American Red Cross

Join us on Friday, February 26, as COMMON Workspace and La Suprema Works & Events co-sponsor our first-ever American Red Cross blood drive to help the Tucson community. All COMMON and La Suprema participants will be required to pre-register in order to donate, and will undergo enhanced COVID-19 screening at their appointment. Throughout the pandemic, national reserves have been challenged to keep up with demand. Your generous donation will be life-changing for someone in need.

Rio Nuevo Board Opens Bid for Council St. Parking Lot

The Rio Nuevo Board voted unanimously to accept a no-contingency sale from local developers for the vacant Rio Nuevo owned parking lot at Council Street and Church Avenue, just north of the downtown YMCA. The Board voted to give any other interested parties the opportunity to top the current proposal of $500,000. Interested parties may go to the Rio Nuevo Website to place their bid no later than 5 p.m. Friday, February 19, 2021.
