Called Interim Meeting + Budget & Apportionment Meeting, April 18 |
The Yearly Meeting will gather again on Saturday, April 18th at 11:00am. We will begin with a Called Interim Meeting to have a second reading on the nominees to the new Board of BYM Quaker Camps, LLC. After the conclusion of that one business item, we will hear about Committee and Program budget requests for the 2027 budget and have an open discussion about apportionment, its formula, and how apportionment dollars are stewarded by BYM. This Meeting will take place entirely on Zoom. Monthly Meeting treasurers are strongly encouraged to attend.

Forest Bathing at Friends Wilderness Center, April 18 |
Tired? Stressed out? Need some rest? A walk in the woods would help! Come to the Unity with Nature Forest Bathing Retreat, April 18, from 10 am to 3 pm at Friends Wilderness Center Harpers Ferry, WV. For those who can't come in person but want to learn more about forest bathing, come to: "Forest Bathing: A Virtual Introduction" with Linda Pierce, at 7PM on Friday, April 17 at this Zoom link.

Quaker Worker Gathering, April 22 |
Does your Monthly Meeting have any paid staff? Are you part of a BYM Monthly Meeting and work for a Quaker organization? Quaker Workers within BYM are invited to a Quaker Worker Gathering April 22nd at 10:30am at Sandy Spring Meeting. We'll meet for fellowship and spiritual support followed by boxed lunches provided by BYM. Limited overnight hospitality can be arranged for those coming from a distance.

| 40 Miles for 40 Acres Walk, April 22-23 |
BYM Friend Nathan Shroyer sends invites Friends to the next 40 Miles for 40 Acres Walk, hosted by Rev Robert Turner of Blatimore, calling for reparations, and honoring the legacy of Barbara Johns. The event will take place on April 22 at 6:00 PM at Wesley Methodist Church in Richmond, VA. On April 23, walkers will be walking from Farmville, Virginia to Richmond starting at 5:26 AM as part of the 40 Miles for 40 Acres campaign. Questions? Email Nathan at nathannola@gmail.com.

BYM Camping Program Manager, Zora, is pleased to introduce Lisa "Basil" Bergman (they/them), who will be serving alongside Dyresha Harris this summer as Co-Director at Catoctin Quaker Camp. Basil has 10 years of summer camp leadership experience, most recently as Director at Rainbow Camp in Ontario, a camp focused on supporting 2SLGBTQIA+ youth. Basil holds degrees in Math and Computer Science and an M.S. in Kinesiology and Recreation and served in the Peace Corps in Lesotho and Malawi. Welcome, Basil!
