Director of Intelligence Studies at the Bush School DC, Gary Ross, published an article for CNN titled, "The biggest potential danger from the Hur report is one no one's talking about on Special Counsel Hur's report on Biden. Read the article here.

Recently, the Bush School's Dr. Kaleb Abreha, an assistant research scientist with the Mosbacher Institute, was quoted in an article entitled, "Global trade set to sail past immediate Red Sea turmoil," authored by Ingrid Lexova. Associate Professor of the Practice and Director of the Certificate in Advanced International Affairs Program, Ronald Sievert, spoke at length to the FBI Agents Association at Great Hills Country Club on February 15. He addressed the law related to state versus federal authority and current standing federal law as covered in his KBTX interview, explained recent Supreme Court decisions on electronic surveillance, and then noted future technological innovations that will challenge U.S. national security.

On February 21, Professor of the Practice and Director of the Graduate Certificate in Homeland Security, Danny Davis attended the Federal Emergency Management Agency Region 6 Higher Education Summit at Texas Southern University. Davis's talk, "The Case for Infusing Cybersecurity into Curriculum," was presented to an audience that included students and faculty, emergency management officials from five states, and FEMA officials. Topics discussed included the interconnectivity between all parts of society, trends in cyber-related crime, how cyber-threats jeopardize public and private affairs, and the critical need for planning and cooperation between different jurisdictional government and private sector levels.

On February 2, Professor of the Practice and Director of the Graduate Certificate in Homeland Security, Danny Davis was interviewed by Bayless Wagner, Austin American Statesman. Davis commented on laws and strategies that guide the national defense and homeland security missions and the Department of Homeland Security's role in border security. The event provides opportunities for networking, knowledge sharing, and strategy building to empower leaders to drive social change through university-community partnerships.

Disaster PRIMR 2024 Conference presents opportunities to discuss and explore these challenges and identify innovative and meaningful strategies and techniques to mitigate them and improve the resilience of communities throughout. This year’s conference will focus on the challenges in rural and tribal communities, including heirs’ property rights and gentrification, the impacts of environmental-driven catastrophes, accessibility challenges, and many more.
*There will also be a career fair mixer for students at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, February 27, at the event location for students to explore potential employment or graduate studies opportunities following graduation.
