The Sherman Way Modular Placement:
Building with Purpose |
On June 18th we celebrated the module placement at our new site, Sherman Way - a milestone in building 64 permanent supportive homes for our most vulnerable neighbors in the San Fernando Valley.
This project is one of five modular supportive housing developments to be produced as part of a $40 million City of Los Angeles HHH Innovation Challenge Award made to LA Family Housing, Abode Communities, and Mercy Housing California as a nonprofit developer collaborative. By using modular construction and a streamlined financing model, we’re cutting costs, saving time, and creating more homes faster for people experiencing homelessness. “This is more than a construction project—it's a demonstration of what’s possible when innovation meets purpose,” said Tommy Rakes, CEO of Guerdon. We are so excited to continue our mission in providing housing and ending homelessness in people's lives.

Family Self-Care Day at Talisa |
We recently partnered with Beauty Bus Foundation to bring a relaxing and family-friendly Self-Care Day to our residents at Talisa. During the event, volunteer beauty professionals provided over 70 services including haircuts/styles, hand massages and glitter tattoos, mini-facials, and makeup services.
For families transitioning out of homelessness, moments of self-care like these are more than just pampering - they’re powerful reminders of dignity, healing, and hope. We're so grateful to the Beauty Bus team and volunteers for helping us create such a beautiful and rejuvenating experience for our Talisa families.

On Thursday, September 18, LA Family Housing will be hosting our 14th annual Golf Tournament at the beautiful, desert style Angeles National Golf Club. Meet Koya - an LAFH resident who resides at the Emerald - our new 72-unit permanent supportive housing site for families. Koya was homeless not long ago, struggling to keep her kids safe, fighting cancer and doing everything she could to survive. In 2023 Koya was referred to LA Family Housing by the Department of Mental Health, and since then she has moved into permanent supportive housing to give her and her family a chance at a fresh start.
There are so many others still our there - parents, veterans, youth - who deserve that second chance. Your donation can provide shelter, mental health services, and permanent housing for someone who feels forgotten. You can be part of someone’s second chance.
