Following up on last year’s online campus commemoration of Yom HaShoah, we marked this year’s Holocaust Remembrance Day with a moving ceremony in Cannon Chapel. Student leaders spoke of the significance of this moment and carrying forward the legacy of the generation of survivors.
Lest we think that Antisemitism is merely a historical phenomenon, we also invited a group of ten student leaders into an intimate conversation with Dr. Deborah Lipstadt (as her final on-campus event before departing for her ambassadorship). This open and honest dialogue, facilitated in conjunction with Dr. Carol Henderson of Emory's Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (ODEI), created a space for students to recommit to combatting Antisemitism wherever they find it. As we continue engaging this issue, we look forward to calling upon the other amazing resources and teachers of Emory's Tam Institute for Jewish Studies in the next year.
