Donohoe Companies Wins Regional Award

On Tuesday, June 26, Commuter Connections recognized Bethesda-based Donohoe Companies with a regional Employer Recognition Award.
The award recognizes Donohoe's efforts in marketing transportation alternatives to their employees. This is done through promoting their commuter program in a bi-weekly company e-newsletter and by installing a TransitScreen in their building lobby, which provides real-time transportation information.
Robert Donohoe Jr., Kelley Darling, Deirdre Robinson, and Christopher Bruch of the Donohoe Companies accept their award at a breakfast ceremony at the National Press Club.

Bethesda, Medical Center Stations Closing this Weekend

Starting on Saturday, June 30, Metrorail trains will not be running through the Stations at Medical Center or Bethesda. The stations will reopen on Monday, July 2.
If you find yourself on a train that would normally stop at one of these stations, you will be required to disembark the train and take a bus. The buses will be running between the Friendship Heights and Grosvenor Stations. WMATA requests that you allow 10 minutes of travel time for each station stop.
Red Line trains will be operating every 10 minutes between Shady Grove & Grosvenor and Friendship Heights & Glenmont Stations.
The stations will be closed so that crews may mitigate water leaks.
In addition, employees working in Donohoe's Downtown Bethesda office are eligible to receive $160 per month transit subsidy and a discounted membership to Capital Bikeshare. Their building is equipped with showers and lockers for employees who bike to work, as well as bike racks and an employee gym!
Donohoe also incorporates active commute modes such as biking and walking into their wellness program, making it easy to promote Downtown Bethesda events such as Bike to Work Day and the Walk & Ride Challenge. The Donohoe Companies moved their headquarters to Downtown Bethesda 2016. According to leaders within the company, proximity to transit was a major factor in choosing their new location.
