"I first visited NYU Shanghai during the 10th anniversary celebrations in March 2023. The campus is a sight to behold; the first thing that catches my eye when stepping into the campus is the logo of NYU Shanghai’s 10th anniversary and the iconic sign that says “Meet me at New Bund.” It was as if the sign was welcoming students from all over the world to witness the 10th anniversary of NYU Shanghai, and to look forward to the countless decades to come.
The thought, design, and placement of the facilities, such as the library, individualized lounges, indoor basketball court, and gym, all reflect the school's dedication to the students. These spaces provide a visual and sensory feast for students as they study in these carefully curated spaces. Without hesitation, I felt my daughter made the right choice in choosing to come to NYU Shanghai.
Just last night at 1am, my daughter texted in the family chat that she had just shared about how proud she was of her growth as a writer.
My daughter has now been studying in NYU Shanghai for almost three years, and it is now obvious that she has found her direction for the future. I remembered that she wanted to study liberal arts in high school, but under our advice and guidance, she chose a field she was not strong in, physics. In the final college entrance examination, her results for physics were not satisfactory, despite the large amount of time and energy put into the subject. However, she did well in liberal arts without spending too much time on the subject, showing she is better with humanities and arts subjects.
After entering NYU Shanghai, my husband and I again wanted her to choose a popular major. During her first year, she would give us perfunctory responses when asked about her choice of her major. Now in her junior year, she decisively told us she has chosen Philosophy as her major; the trip to NYU in New York City greatly impacted her decision. I know that studying philosophy has always been my daughter’s dream, a source of joy and a motivation during her struggles. After three years of growing in NYU Shanghai’s unique and nurturing environment, her hands-on ability has improved and she has grown and become more self-confident in many areas of her life.
The unique charm of NYU Shanghai has attracted many students from all over the world. We are fortunate to witness the first ten years of NYU Shanghai, and we look forward to many fruitful decades of growth to come. We wish NYU Shanghai continuous growth and progress. The future is a promising one!"
