I am so proud of our students who performed and were a part of tech crew for Shrek Jr. The students did an amazing job and we are in awe of their perseverance and efforts to make this show so wonderful. I am also grateful for the staff and parents who dedicated so much time and energy to help it be successful. I am so glad to have our musical back as a part of Normal Park and already have students making requests for a next one.
This week and next week students in grades 3-8 will be taking district benchmark assessments. These are administered three times a year to ensure students are making mastery toward the state standards. The schedules are different for each grade level so if you have questions please ask your teacher. K-2 will take their mid year benchmark assessments in January.
We are thrilled to have our exhibit nights coming up next week. Also as a wrap up of arts programming for the semester, please come and see our band winter performance on Thursday at the upper school auditorium. Our dancers are performing the following week through our collaboration with the Pop Up Project. These shows are all free, family friendly, and welcome your support. Our 8th grade athletes will be recognized in our last home basketball game this Friday night against St. Jude. We welcome all cheers!
A Holiday Hoopla and Read A Rama events are being planned and we appreciate your help as we will need lots of volunteers before, during, and after. The last two weeks of the semester are full of fun events and busy. Thank you for your continued support and encouragement of helping all students succeed.

Winter Showcase and Winter WindDid you know that Normal Park Museum Magnet School is one of the VERY few schools in Hamilton County that has a Dance Program and Curriculum? The Pop-up Project's (PUP) partnership with Normal Park allows for over 250 students to share in the love, art, and JOY of Dance. PUP Teaching Artists are working with every single 4th and 5th grader, and have been nurturing and developing Chattanooga's newest Dance Ensemble, the NP "SPARKS"; which consists of dancers in the 6th through 8th grade. This past semester PUP Teaching Artists have also been working with dancers Kindergarten through 3rd grade at the Lower School, and served as Choreographer for our fabulous Musical- Shrek JR. !
Normal Park Museum Magnet and The Pop-up Project are proud to invite you to NP Upper Dance Department's "Winter Showcase" on Wednesday December 14th at 6pm in the NP Upper School Auditorium AND to NP Lower Afterschool Program's "Winter Wind" performance on Monday December 12th at 530pm in the NP Lower School Auditorium!!!!
Admission to our "Winter Showcase" and "Winter Wind" Fundraisers is FREE. Donations will be greatly appreciated! We are working hard to raise more funds to help our Dance Program continue in the New Year! Please come to our show and/or consider donating to our Mission.
Parent Volunteers are needed for both Performances. They would need to help keep the dancers focused before and during the performance. They would need to wear all black and arrive an hour before the start time of the show. Please reach out to louie@thepopupproject.org for more volunteer information.
The Pop-up Project is thankful to the Normal Park Museum Magnet's SPARK Fund for believing in our mission to share the JOY of Dance to all children!!!

Students come to the nurse MANY times a day for minor complaints that vary from earache, toothache, sore throat, headache, etc. If you would please fill out the attached sheet and return to school with the medication that would help them function better at school. It would also greatly reduce the need to call you to bring them medication to school or pick them up. Thank you!
