A Little About MeI'm the Journalism Institute's Publications Director. I help students get their work out in the world.
I have more than 20 years of experience in journalism. I was most recently a senior editor at The Atlantic. Before that, I was the digital editor at Serial and This American Life, a senior staff editor at The New York Times, and an editor at National Geographic Magazine.
I have been pitched to a lot over the years, and my goal is to use my experience to help students feel comfortable pitching. Pitching, at its heart, is about framing an idea. What is this story about? Why does it matter now?
Students I've worked with have been published in The New York Times, Slate, Guardian, Planet Money, Cosmopolitan, Hell Gate, Grub Street, and more.
