Dear Students and Colleagues:
Due to the impending winter storm, Ball State University is closing its physical campus effective 7 a.m. Thursday, February 3, and reopening at 7 a.m., Friday, February 4.
All courses during this time will be held online; all nonessential employees should work remotely, to the extent possible; all essential employees must report for work in person.
The following details pertain only to the physical campus closure timeframe:
Students
All courses on Thursday will be held online. Instructors should soon communicate with students on the next steps and expectations for Thursday classes.
Residence halls will remain open, and front desk operations will continue, but Housing and University Apartments offices will be closed.
University dining services will be fully operational.
The Health Center will operate normally, but the Quick Clinic, Women’s Clinic, and Physical Therapy offices will be closed.
The Student Center will maintain regular hours of operation from 6:30 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Recreation services, including the Jo Ann Gora Student Recreation and Wellness Center and Ball Gym, will operate normally, as will sports and athletics facilities.
Charlie’s Charter and campus shuttle busses will not be operational during the closure.
Faculty
All courses on Thursday will be held online. Instructors should soon communicate with students on the next steps and expectations for Thursday classes.
Employees
All nonessential employees should work remotely, to the extent possible. Nonessential employees should communicate with their direct supervisor with questions about those arrangements.
All essential employees are expected to report in person, as scheduled by their supervisor. Your supervisor is your best source for understanding your role and duties as essential personnel.
Students, faculty, and all employees should plan for resumption of full and normal operations University-wide at 7 a.m. Friday, February 4.

Finally, we encourage everyone in our campus community to take the necessary precautions to remain safe in the next 24 hours. For additional tips, please review the email distributed earlier this week. And as always, in the case of an emergency, call University Police – which will remain fully operational during the campus closure -- at 765-285-1111 or dial 911.
