The California State Fair Blue Ribbon Brunch will take place Sunday, September 9 from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Kaiser Permanente California State Fair Farm. It is a fundraiser for the 3.5 acre farm and the K-6th grade Farm Tours, which run through September 10 - October 18 and are now open for school tour reservations. The tours show children the importance of fresh food and let them see first-hand the process to grow fresh fruits, vegetables and herbs and how to maintain a farm.
The Blue Ribbon Brunch will feature the best local ingredients fresh from the California State Fair Farm, plus award-winning wine, cheese, beer, olive oil and dessert from the California State Fair commercial competitions. Individual tickets and table sponsorships are available at CAStateFair.org/Brunch.
Guests will enjoy a farm-to-fork feast prepared by two local chefs: - Kurt Spataro is the Executive Chef and Partner in the Paragary Restaurant Group for several restaurants including The Esquire Grill, Centro Cocina Mexicana, Cafe Bernardo, and Paragarys. Kurt is a self-taught chef who is also the Board Chair of Soil Born Farms and teaches classes at American River College.
- Shane Lillard is the Executive Chef and General Manager at 58 Degrees and Holding Co., preparing California cuisine with fresh, local, seasonal ingredients. Schooled in the culinary arts at Le Cordon Bleu in San Francisco, CA., he completed his culinary externship at Turtle Bay Resort in Hawaii. Upon returning to Sacramento he worked with some of the top chefs in the area to fine tune his skills, while learning various cooking styles and techniques.
Hosted by: Kitty O'Neal will host the brunch. She anchors the highly rated and award winning KFBK Afternoon News from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m., a show she has hosted for over 20 years. She has had many coveted news assignments including covering a Presidential inauguration, the Grammy Awards, and over 20 Academy Award ceremonies.
Music by: Jazz saxophonist Shawn Raiford will play during the brunch. He is one of the most appreciated musical talents currently rising in the Sacramento area music scene. His engaging ability on the alto saxophone combines his enthusiasm, showmanship, and capacity to entertain with just the right combination of selections from his rapidly growing repertoire of contemporary jazz, R&B, gospel, rock, and popular music selections.
Blue Ribbon Brunch guests will be able to stroll through the Farm, learn about the K-6th grade Farm Tours and enjoy all that the farm has to offer while sipping on complementary mimosas, award-winning wine and beer. Guests can pick up a game of cornhole, take a photo with the American Gothic selfie stand or take the EVOO Taste Test Challenge for a chance to win prizes.
Tickets: CAStateFair.org/Brunch $100.00 PER TICKET I $750.00 PER TABLE OF 8
All proceeds benefit the K-6th grade Farm Tours and are tax deductible.
