Independent grocers report same-store sales for the first week of September were up 9.65 percent, but consumer count was down 13.22 percent compared to the same period last year.
Retail produce sales up 5% against 2019 Labor Day, month-end budgeting
End-of-the-month budgeting plus Labor Day 2019 falling a week earlier meant retail produce sales were up only about 5% this year, which means big numbers are in store for next week, according to analysis of IRI fresh produce sales in the week ending August 30 by Anne-Marie Roerink of 210 Analytics, LLC, with commentary from Produce Marketing Association's Joe Watson, CPP and IRI's Jonna Parker.
