Staff Council Professional Development Conference: Session proposal deadline extended until Feb. 21

Save the date: the 2025 Staff Council Professional Development Conference is taking place May 20. The conference theme is Navigating Tomorrow: Embracing Change and Cultivating Adaptability.

Key details about the 2025 Staff Council Professional Development Conference include:

Registration will open in early March: Register early for a chance to win a prize.
The call for presenters has been extended until Feb. 21: Submit session proposals on team building, resilience, technology, adaptability, and more.
Refer a presenter: Nominate someone to present at the conference, and enter a special raffle.

Practice Session for UMKC Undergraduate Research Day at the Capitol: Feb. 14, 11:00 a.m.

UMKC is thrilled to have 12 students from diverse academic fields representing our campus at Undergraduate Research Day at the Capitol this March. Join us on Feb. 14, 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. in Student Union 302, for an open-house style practice session, where these students will refine their research pitches and answer questions alongside drafts of their posters. African American Read-In: Feb. 17, 2:00 p.m.

Staff are invited to attend the annual African American Read-In from UMKC Libraries. Register to join on Feb. 17 from 2:00 p.m. - 3:30pm in Miller Nichols Library (MNL) Room 325, or to join us virtually on Zoom.

The African American Read-In is a celebration of African American literature and literacy. Participate by reading excerpts from poetry, speeches, stories, songs, and other works created by African American authors and artists. Or, just come to listen, reflect, and enjoy the presentations.

UMKC Day at the Kansas City Symphony: Feb. 23, 2:00 p.m.

UMKC and the Kansas City Symphony are excited to announce that UMKC Day at the Kansas City Symphony will return on Feb. 23.

Each month, Human Resources invites UMKC staff to discover resources around health and well-being.
