July Faculty Spotlight: Laurie Phillips
Laurie Phillips is Associate Dean and an Associate Professor in the Monroe Library. She has been a member of the library faculty since 1990 and works with online programs on affordability and accessibility of course materials.
“I’ve been working with affordability of textbooks since 2016 and it’s truly rewarding to be able to provide course materials free of charge to our students. No student should fall behind because they can’t afford a textbook, so I’m excited that this program has grown every year. I’m also working with your professors and the Office of Accessible Education to ensure that all course materials are fully accessible for students with disabilities. We’re doing all we can to provide readable or captioned course materials so that every student has the same access to what they need to succeed. The best part of my job is working directly with students, so never hesitate to be in touch.”
Each issue we will feature an online student or faculty/staff member who embodies the Ignatian ideals of faith, truth, justice, and service in our online community. If you'd like to nominate someone, please contact ssconlinega@loyno.edu to share who and why you think deserves to be in the spotlight.
