Replication and Reproducibility
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) website ‘Enhancing Reproducibility through Rigor and Transparency’ provides resource links including Principles and Guidelines for Publishing Preclinical Research; Guidance: Rigor and Reproducibility in Grant Applications; and Notices, Blog Posts, and References for Rigor Reproducibility.
Conference Grant Applications
The NIH issued Notice NOT-OD-26-040, ‘NIH No Longer Requires Advanced Permission for Conference Grant Applications’ effective immediately. Applicants will no longer need ‘to request written permission from the Institute, Center, or Office (ICO) and/or document receipt of permission as part of the Cover Letter attachment on the SF 424 (R&R) Form’.
IRB Approval Certification
The NIH recently posted a notice ‘Reminder of Requirement for Certification of IRB Approval’ (NOT-OD-26-043) to remind the research community that ‘certification that all nonexempt human subjects research has been reviewed and approved by an appropriate Institutional Review Board (IRB)’ is required. The date of the final IRB approval (i.e. the date of the last protocol approval must be submitted by the applicants; note that expired or pending IRB approval dates are not acceptable.
