From a young age, Capriana Jiang ’23 knew she wanted to pursue a career in medicine. She volunteered at a local zoo in her hometown thinking she was interested in being a veterinarian, but later shifted her focus to human health. As a second-year Matelich Scholar at Puget Sound, Jiang was accepted to a prestigious medical school through an accelerated pathway with support from staff in Puget Sound’s Health Professions Advising program. But it was an internship with the Neighborhood Clinic in Tacoma that solidified her passion for helping patients navigate the complex world of healthcare.

This week, Prof. of Anthropology Andrew Gardner is presenting at Heterodox Academy’s 2025 Conference in New York City. Gardner led a panel discussion about the place of anthropology in the liberal arts model of higher education. "Our contention is that anthropology — configured from its birth to explore the terrain of human diversity — provides contemporary academia with tools and concepts by which significant differences can be appreciated and, perhaps more importantly, remain in productive dialogue," Gardner said.

Logger Athletics hosted its annual Youth Football Camp last week. The camp introduces kids to the basics of the sport and encourages budding athletes to get active and have fun.
