In 2022, Stacy Wells Chapin ’91 got the worst call a parent can imagine — her son, Ethan, had been murdered. In spite of her grief, Stacy rose to the challenge, helping support the members of Ethan’s fraternity on their healing journey, writing a book, The Boy Who Wore Blue, and starting the Ethan’s Smile Foundation to support the educational goals of students like her son. For her advocacy, Chapin was recently honored with Puget Sound's Service to Community Alumni Award.
Hear Chapin's story in her own words in the latest episode of the Always a Logger podcast or read about the award at the link below. Join us June 5–7 for Summer Reunion Weekend as we recognize all of our 2026 alumni award winners.

After 35 years with The Japan Times, editorial cartoonist Roger Dahl ’75 is retiring his long-running comic Zero Gravity, which satirized the American expat experience. In an article commemorating his time with the paper, Dahl, who contributed to The Trail as an undergraduate, said he isn't retiring, but is moving on to other projects. “I have a lot of directions to explore. I’m not likely to do anything like political cartoons or comic strips again,” he said. “I’d rather do children’s books or graphic novels.”
