Student and Scrappy on Founder's Day
   HAPPY BIRTHDAY, UNT!
On Sept. 16, 1890, the Texas Normal College and Teacher Training Institute, founded by President Joshua C. Chilton, opened its doors. Today, we know it as the University of North Texas. This year marks our 133rd birthday, and we're excited to celebrate another year with our students!
Join UNT for free cupcakes and giveaways as we commemorate Founder’s Day from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 15, at the Library Mall (or University Union 314 if there’s rain) and Discovery Park CG130. UNT at Frisco will host a Founder’s Day Celebration from noon to 2 p.m. and 4 to 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 18, in the Frisco Landing Lobby with build-your-own trail mix stations. All events are free with your UNT student ID.

   EAGLE ALERT
UNT’s Eagle Alert system sent a test message to students, faculty, staff and UNT System staff on Friday, Sept. 8. Because the Eagle Alert system is intended to communicate vital, urgent information in potentially life-threatening situations that are ongoing, the university maintains strict criteria for initiating an alert to the community. If you are on or near campus and receive an Eagle Alert, it is crucial that you pay attention to the alert. Learn about Eagle Alert and check your contact information at my.unt.edu. We suggest saving an Eagle Alert contact in your phone, so you'll know the source of the call (940-369-8097) or text message (89361).

   COFFEE & CONVOS
As temperatures cool, nontraditional and graduate students can grab a free coffee with their favorite professor or staff member by completing the Coffee & Convos pre-survey. The program is a chance for students to request recommendation letters, discuss overall academic performance or talk about fieldwork and internship opportunities.
After completing the pre-survey, you’ll receive a participation confirmation email with information about collecting your free beverage vouchers. Vouchers are valid at select locations on campus, at Discovery Park and at Frisco Landing.
Complete the post-survey after your meeting to receive a free Coffee & Convos T-shirt and to be entered to win a $50 Barnes & Noble shopping spree on campus or online.

   COMPLETE CARE SURVEY
Please help measure the effectiveness of UNT’s Complete Care benefit program by taking this short survey by Sept. 29. If you already responded to a survey request from UNT Complete Care, thank you for your response – you don’t need to take it again. Survey responses are anonymous, but if you’d like to provide your contact information at the end of the survey, you’ll be entered to win a UNT gift basket!

Student Counseling offers workshops and group sessions that prioritize your mental health and allow you to surround yourself with people dealing with similar struggles. UNT students have access to free comprehensive mental health services on campus, so don’t hesitate to reach out if you need someone to talk to.

   NEW STUDENT ORGANIZATION
If you’re interested in forming a new organization for the 2023-24 school year, the New Student Organization Approval process is open for submissions through mid-March. This two-part process does not guarantee immediate approval as the full process takes at least three weeks. Upon approval, the student organization receives privileges of registration and must register each school year to continue to be classified as an active organization on campus.
