Dear Colleagues,
As your Interim Provost, I am writing to welcome you back to campus and to express my eagerness to embrace the opportunities and challenges ahead. I am optimistic about the future of PSU with the arrival of our new President, Ann Cudd, and I share her commitment to foster cross-campus collaboration and ensure clear and open lines of communication. I look forward to seeing you in person at Faculty and Staff Convocation to hear President Cudd speak about her vision for Portland State University. More information about the event can be found below.
In these times of transition, we must acknowledge the complexity of the options ahead. We continue to face reduced enrollments and budget constraints, realities that many universities across the nation grapple with, but these challenges can be overcome through our collective efforts and partnership. This inaugural newsletter includes a brief overview of the new Initiation of Attendance requirement, some significant hiring news, and insights from the faculty senate’s dedicated summer workgroup. Next month the Provost newsletter will share resources for faculty and staff as well as resources to share with students.
Let's make this a year of shared accomplishments. This means not just achieving individual goals but collectively striving for excellence, innovation, and resilience. It means embracing collaboration, open dialogue, and the exchange of ideas to find creative solutions to the challenges we face. I encourage you to participate in this exciting chapter of PSU’s history—your unique perspectives and contributions will be instrumental in shaping PSU’s future.
