Upcoming Board of Directors Election

Four seats are up for election in 2022. Interested candidates must declare their intentions by January 19, 2022. Voting will open in April and results will be announced in May. Learn more about the responsibilities of Board members, requirements for candidacy, and the election process. 

Time is Running Out: Encourage Students to Apply for Scholarships

Encourage your seniors to apply for the inaugural Keith West Memorial Student Scholarships. Four seniors will be selected to receive a $1,000 college scholarship in memory of Keith West. Winning students will demonstrate a commitment to speech and debate, academics, and the NSDA Honor Code. Applications close November 30

Vote for Upcoming Topics

PF and LD » Chapter advisors and member students can log in and vote for the January PF topic and the January/February LD topic before 4:00 p.m. CT on November 30. 
Policy » Chapter advisors and member students can cast their vote for the 2022-2023 topic by December 15! The two choices are: 
  • Resolved: The United States federal government should substantially increase its support of multilateral greenhouse gas emission reduction regimes.
  • Resolved: The United States federal government should substantially increase its security cooperation with the North Atlantic Treaty Organization in one or more of the following areas: artificial intelligence, biotechnology, cybersecurity.

Celebrate Native American Heritage Month

As many of us gather around this Thanksgiving holiday, we encourage you to join us in thinking critically about the origins of the holiday and how to best uplift and support Native American and Indigenous Peoples. We invite your team to use our tools and materials, including a literature collection of works by Native American authors for Interp pieces, a poster series, land acknowledgement resources, and more. 

Finding Tournaments on Tabroom.com

You're probably familiar with Tabroom.com's tournament calendar, but have you checked out Circuits? You can use the circuits function to find and register for tournaments in your area.
  1. Visit Tabroom.com and select the Circuits tab at the top of the page.
  2. Use the location options on the right to narrow down the results by state or country. 
  3. Select the Calendar button for a circuit to explore upcoming events.
  4. Check out invitations for events to register or explore whether there are online options for circuits outside your area.

Register for Our Free Online Tournament 

There's something for every age and skill level at our FREE Springboard Capstone Tournament on Saturday, December 4. We will offer live and asynch speech and hold four rounds of speech and Policy Debate, five rounds of PF, LD, BQ, and WSD, and two rounds of Congress.
