Student Summer Arts Opportunities

Summer Music Theater Workshops

Summer-long workshop opportunities are available in Musical Theatre Fundamentals (grades 2-8) and Advanced Musical Theatre (grades 3-12 by invitation or audition) at the Elkhorn Valley Community Theatre in Valley. Each program culminates in a performance. 

Allegro Wolf Broadway Academy

This week-long summer theater camp provides artistic exposure and professional-level training for youth ages 13-18 interested in singing, acting and dancing. The Academy's session will be July 14-21, at the Allegro Wolf Arts Center in Sutton, NE, with the theme "I Got You" from the Broadway musical "Bring It On." 
The Brownville Fine Arts Association will provide a full day of continuous jazz instruction guided by a broad curriculum that focuses on Voice, The Anatomy of the Rhythm Section and Composition. Master instructors will share their expertise, while providing guidance and feedback to each student. These are the most sought-after Jazz educators in the world, and they will provide continuous encouragement for each student and have fun! 

Summer Backstage Workshop

Join professional artists from across the country as Crane River Theater presents its annual Backstage Workshop in Kearney on August 2nd and 3rd. This is a one-of-a-kind opportunity for high school students to see a professional production, interact with the cast, and take part in workshops specializing in music, theater and dance. This year's Workshop is built around the musical "Newsies".

Nebraska Statewide Arts Conference 2019

The Nebraska Arts Council is sponsoring two State Arts Conferences this summer. The conferences are designed to provide inspiration, networking opportunities, and hands-on workshops.
The first conference, Friday, May 31- Saturday, June 1 in Omaha, includes excursions to the new Healing Arts Program at the UNMC, the South Omaha public mural corridor and El Museo Latino, and a behind the scenes tour of the Rose and BLUEBARN Theatres. Registration/Schedule Information

Fall State Conference

The Nebraska Art Teachers Association is gearing up for their fall conference in Nebraska City. Donalyn Heise, our keynote speaker, will be focusing on how art education can enhance learning for students experiencing trauma. https://www.nebraskaarteducators.org/fall-conference.html

State Conference Deadline Reminders

The Nebraska Music Education Association's 2019 Conference & All-State Clinic will be held November 21-23 (Thursday - Saturday) in Lincoln. A reminder of several conference deadlines: 

State Conference Schedule Released

The Nebraska Speech Communications and Theatre Association has finalized the schedule for the 2019 Convention. This year's NSCTA Convention will be held September 19-21 in Kearney.
