Staff Recognition at Kansas City Athletics Games: Oct. 19th, 7 p.m. & Nov. 2, 7 p.m.

Kansas City Athletics loves our UMKC staff. Join us on Oct. 19 and Nov. 2 for two games that highlight our awesome staff. Look for the Staff Council table at both games. See more information below:
- Oct. 19, 7 p.m., Women's Soccer vs. South Dakota: Breast Cancer Awareness & UMKC Faculty-Staff Night. The first 50 fans can make PINK pony bead bracelets in honor of breast cancer awareness. The first 50 faculty and staff who show their UMKC Roo Card ID will receive a Kansas City Athletics Roo enamel pin.
- Nov. 2, 7 p.m.. Women's Volleyball vs. Omaha: Light up Neon Night presented by Evergy. Get in the spirit by wearing neon bright colors and rooting on our Roos. We will celebrate faculty and staff between set breaks. The first 100 fans receive Roos foam glow sticks in 3 flashing color modes.

Community Blood Center Halloween Blood Drive: Oct. 31, 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Join us on Halloween for the Community Blood Center blood drive. Help save the lives of others by donating blood. This blood drive will take place in Pierson Auditorium in the Atterbury Student Success Center (ASSC). Register today on the UMKC Blood Drive website.

Della Lamb Operation Holidays: Nov. 4-18

Della Lamb Community Services exists to empower its clients to meet the challenges of education, employment, and self-sufficiency in an ever-changing world. Since 1897, Della Lamb has continued to be a valued community partner to thousands of low-income families in our Kansas City community.
UMKC Staff Council has volunteered with Della Lamb in the past, and we are excited to partner with them again this year. Register for Operation Holidays 2023, taking place Nov. 4-18. Della Lamb needs volunteers for a variety of roles, including data entry, gift organization/running, bag stuffing, traffic control, greeting, and more.

The Sirridge Office of Medical Humanities and Bioethics and the UMKC Staff Council Engagement Committee are hosting an event to showcase artwork, photography, and poetry of UMKC students, staff, and faculty. Join us for an evening to celebrate the arts and enjoy free refreshments.
If you would like to share your artwork, photography, musical talents, or sign up for the poetry reading for this event, please contact Jennifer Lyles-Maqsood. You do not have to have been published in the Human Factor magazine to share your talents.

ScrapsKC Staff Volunteer Date: Dec. 2, 1:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.

Save the date! Staff Council will be volunteering at ScrapsKC on Dec. 2 from 1:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit creative reuse center and retail store, ScrapsKC cares for Kansas City's environment, education, and homeless through creative reuse.
Our Staff Council group will help with sorting, cleaning, and packaging various art/craft/office supplies. ScrapsKC recently launched their Teacher Resource Center (where local area classroom K-12 teachers can apply to pick out school supplies for free). We will be helping with assignments related to this launch.

Next UMKC Staff Council Meeting: Nov. 1, 8:30 a.m.

All are welcome at UMKC Staff Council meetings. Meetings generally occur the first Wednesday of every month, from 8:30 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. in-person and via Zoom. The Jan. 2024 meeting has moved to the second Wednesday of the month due to the Winter Break.
