The Office of Institutional Equity & Diversity and the Swope Endowed Lecture Series will host Puget Sound's 38th Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration on Thursday, Jan. 18, at 6:30 p.m. in Kilworth Memorial Chapel. This free, public event will feature the presentation of the university's Keep Living the Dream Award and a keynote address by Fred Johnson III, professor of history at Hope College. Johnson's talk will focus on the continuing struggle to achieve King's vision of first-class citizenship for all Americans.

Seventy years ago today, on Jan. 15, 1954, campus woke up to several inches of fresh snow. According to The Trail, students took a break from studying for final exams to throw snowballs and gather on sidewalks to "[shout] encouragement as 'townies' tried valiantly to free their snowbound automobiles." Snow is in the forecast during the first few weeks of the semester, so bundle up, Loggers!
