At first glance, Daniel Donato is serious and stoic in his green scrubs and Stony Brook Medicine logo. And he is. But, in his own words, one must not take anything at face value. In Daniel’s case, he is not just a healthcare worker. Underneath those scrubs is the spirit of an artist.

Symphony Orchestra Concert Join the Stony Brook Symphony Orchestra for the first orchestra concert of our season on October 5 from 8 - 10 p.m. Featuring the music of Joan Tower, Johannes Brahms and Edward Elgar. A pre-concert lecture with Peter Winkler will be held at 7 p.m. in the Recital Hall. Get tickets.
Dean's Challenge Football Game: Join the Graduate School On Saturday, October 5, at 3:30 p.m., the Graduate School will be hosting 100 students, faculty and staff at the game as part of the Stony Brook Athletics Dean’s Challenge. Help us win with the highest attendance this season. Register for tickets.
A Conversation with Archbishop Gabriele Caccia Archbishop Caccia and Dr. Vincenzo Pascale, associate professor at Long Island University and UN representative of the NGO Migrantes, explore the diplomatic efforts of the Holy See Mission to the United Nations, the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and the Holy See's role in global peace processes and conflict resolutions. Register to attend. Event is October 9 from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m., followed by a reception until 8:30 p.m. in the Wang Center Theater.
Family Friendly Coming Out Day Sunday, October 13, from 3 to 5 p.m. at Suffolk County Farm in Yaphank. Celebrate National Coming Out Day with Stony Brook Medicine and the Suffolk County Farm. Admission is free for everyone. Join us for wagon rides, pumpkin picking, crafts, a dance party, karaoke, snacks, beverages and more. Anthony's Red Shoe FUNd Run
Sunday, October 13. Register for a 5k (walk or run) and 1 mile fun run/walk to benefit the Ronald McDonald House being built on Stony Brook's campus beginning 2026.
Enabling Environments, Fugitive Spaces, and Restorative Practices for Intercultural Dialogue and Linguistic Justice October 17 from 9:30 - 11:00 a.m. at the Charles B. Wang Center, Lecture Hall 2. Part of the Sir Run Run Lecture series and sponsored by the Center of Multilingual and Intercultural Communication, hear Alison Phipps speak about the critical role language plays in intercultural dialogue. Epistemic Privilege and the Gender of Climate Change Denial As part of the Sir Run Run lecture series, Harvard University's Naomi Oreskes will discuss evidence that climate change denial is primarily promoted by wealthy white men, why that is the case, and what we can do about it. Join us on October 17 from 5:00 - 6:30 p.m. at 1006 Humanities. Find out more.

Mock Controlled Burn Our Fire & Emergency Services team will perform a live mock residence hall/kitchen controlled burn to demonstrate the rapid spread of fire and the importance of evacuation. The first 300 students will receive an SBU Eats food truck coupon. All are welcome on Monday, October 22 at 8 p.m. at Chapin Commons.

Art Tank Thursday, October 24, as part of Homecoming Week. Come see student artists showcase their talents in this first-of-its-kind competition. Sponsored by the Campus Beautification Committee.
The Artisan Showcase Fine Art Fine Craft Fair is happening November 16-17 from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. at the Wang Center.
