Thank you for being a part of the Troegs Hop Dash, presented by Capital BlueCross! The East Shore Y and Troegs Brewing Company are excited for a great event! Please read through this email for important information about this event.
You may receive additional Hop Dash updates as we get closer to race day.
This is a rain or shine event. 
PACKET PICK-UP
There are two opportunities to get your race bib and race gear:
Friday, October 5th
  • Location: Fleet Feet Sports
  • Address: 6416 Carlisle Pike #700, Mechanicsburg, PA 17050 
  • Time: 12pm-7pm
  • Notes: Fleet Feet Sports is located in Silver Spring Square (the same plaza as Wegmans and Target).
Saturday, October 6th (race day)
  • Location: Troegs Brewing Company parking lot 
  • Time: 7am to 8:30am
  • Bag Drop: 
    • A bag drop will be available from 7am to 11am (all bags must be picked up by 11am). No large bags or duffle bags. 
      • Please leave items of value (wallet, purse, etc.) locked in your car. Bags that not picked up will not be mailed out and must be picked up at the East Shore Y within one week.
Picking up for other participants. It is fine if you pick up for other participants. If you do pick up for multiple people, please make sure they know. Otherwise they might show up to packet pickup only to find their bib, shirt, and bag are gone.
Race Day Need to Know
All participants must get carded before the race on race day
  • On race day, we will have a staff of bartenders on hand from 7am to 8:30am to card participants. Please stop by the packet pickup area before the race to get your ID checked and a wristband - this will let us serve your two 12oz beer cans much faster after the race!
Don't cut it too close!
  • If you choose to pick up your race bib and swag on race day, please arrive early enough to get your bib/swag, and make it to the starting line in time (race starts at 9am). 
Before the Race - Reasons to Arrive Early!
  • Little Amps Coffee (out of Harrisburg). Will be onsite and coffee will be available for purchase!
  • Food Before the Race. Enjoy some donuts for breakfast (no cost).
  • Yoga! Studio 619 (out of Hummelstown) will be onsite before the race and will have yoga sessions at 8am and 8:30am! (Please bring a yoga mat). Each yoga session will be 15 minutes. 
  • Games! There will fun games and prizes starting after 7am, so come early and have fun!
PARKING (updated)
Parking will be available at Troegs Brewing Company in the parking lot and in the large field beside the brewery. 
Please carpool to help us expedite parking as much as possible. 
Please arrive as early as possible to give yourself plenty of time to park, pick up your packet gear if needed, and be ready for the race to start at 9am. We recommend all participants arrive at Troegs Brewing Company no later than 7:45am. 
The parking lot will open at 6:45am. 
If needed, cars will be parked in a nearby lot within walking distace to the brewery. 
Please note the event ends are 12 and all cars must be out of the field by 1pm. 
COURSE 
The 2018 Hop Dash route is back in Hershey as part of the second annual Harvest Hopfest Weekend at Troegs Brewery. This course starts and ends on Hersheypark Drive near Troegs Brewing company (and yes, there are some hills on the course!). The start and finish will be closer to the Bluegreen Suites just beside Troegs (this slight offset helps the finish line area flow better with serving post-race water, giving out medals, and expediting the beer line)
There will be volunteers and course signage to make sure you navigate the course correctly. You just need to show up and be ready for a great race!
COURSE CLOSING TIME - 10am
Please note that the course will officially close at 10am. Any participants still on the course at 10am or possibly slightly prior will be asked to move to the sidewalk to finish the race. 
POST-RACE BEER VOUCHERS AND BEING CARDED
All participants will receive two Troegs beer vouchers to use after the race.
Bring a valid photo id with you
We made the beer vouchers SUPER easy to keep track of - they are pull-off tabs on the bottom of your race bib!
Following the race, all participants can receive two cans of beer, redeemable with the vouchers at the bottom of your race bib at the participant beer station. These vouchers on your race bib can only be used at the free beer station for participants. You cannot use your participant vouchers at the Troegs Draft Trailer, which will be onsite selling draft beer to participants and spectators. 
Get carded before the race on race day!
  • On race day, we will have a full staff of bartenders at Troegs Brewing Company from 7am to 8:30am to card participants and give a wristband before the race begins. 
  • Please stop by the carding area before the race to get your ID checked and a bracelet - this will let us serve free beer much faster after the race!
  • The more people get carded before the race means we can get your beer sooner after ther race! 
POST-RACE PARTY
Following the race, the post-race party will begin in the outdoor area at Troegs Brewing Company.

The brewery will open at normal Saturday business hours (11am). 

Vouchers are good for two 12-oz cans, which will be served in the "beer gauntlet" following the race. The draft trailer will have draft beer for additional purchase. 

Mad Dash Grilled Cheese and Dough Heads Stuffed Waffles will also be on site!

IMPORTANT: Please note that the participant beer vouchers at the bottom of your race bib cannot be redeemed at the Troegs Draft Trailer. 
FINISHER MEDALS
The 2018 finisher medal is the second medal that is part of a series of Hop Dash finisher medals that will create a full hop leaf when completed! This year features the Nugget hop. Last year was the Simcoe hop. 
RACE DAY SCHEDULE
7am-8:30am - Packet pickup, arrival, ID check/hand stamp and free family activities. 
9am - Race begins! 
10am - Course closes
Approximately 10:30am - Awards and best dressed content
  • Overall and age group awards
  • Sunshine Equinox: Middle finisher
  • Costume categories are:
    • Humulus Maximus: Best beer-themed costume
    • Nimble Giant: Most difficult costime to run in 
12pm - End of the Hop Dash festivities
ROAD CLOSURES
Please note that the following road closures for the race. 
Closing at approximately 8:40am
  • Hersheypark Drive (between Sand Beach Rd and Laudermilch Rd)
Closing at approximately 8:50am
  • Laudermilch Rd (between Hersheypark Drive and Swatara Rd)
  • Swatara Rd (between Laudermilch Rd and Peffley Rd)
  • Peffley Rd (between Swatara Rd and Kieffer Rd)
  • Kieffer Rd (between Peffley Rd and Sand Reach Rd)
  • Sand Beach Rd (between Kieffer Rd and Hersheypark Drive)
 Detours will be set up for traffic on Hersheypark Drive while these roads are closed. 
RACE TIMING
All racers will be timed with disposable chip timing by FalconRaceTiming.com. The chip is secured on the back of your race bib (please double check and make sure you have the correct bib). Be sure to have your bib secured to the front of your body during the race, so it is clearly visible to race officials.
This race will be mat timed, which means your timing chip will trigger twice (once when you cross the starting line mat and again at the finish line mat). Please make sure you cross both mats (otherwise you will not receive an official time). 
BEST DRESSED CONTEST
Come out to the Hop Dash in your BEST Troegs-inspired outfit! Each person who wants to enter the contest will be able to show off their Troegs-inspired outfit. The best dressed male and female participants will receive a $50 Troegs Gift card! This will be decided as part of the post-race festivities after the award ceremony, so be sure to stick around!
PORT-O-JOHNS
Port-o-johns will be available in the Troegs Brewing Company parking lot area. 
There will be no be additional port-o-johns at the starting line.
OTHER
Strollers on the course: This is up to the discretion of the participant. There may be some parts of the road that are uneven, so please use caution if you decide to push a stroller. While all roads around the course will be closed/coned off during the race, there is always a chance that there will be some residual traffic within the course, so please use caution if you push a stroller.
