Dear Family and Friends of A.G. Rhodes,
As the impact of the Coronavirus continues to evolve, we join other health care providers in appropriate and necessary preparations for the care of those affected. It is our unwavering commitment and top priority to protect the health and safety of our residents. We need and greatly appreciate your patience and cooperation as we navigate the days and weeks ahead and work together to safeguard the health of our residents, staff, and ultimately, the community at large.
While we do not currently have any cases of the Coronavirus in our communities, yesterday we made the difficult decision to restrict all non-essential visitors, including family members, to A.G. Rhodes. We pride ourselves on operating as a family, and in making this decision, we asked ourselves, “Is this what we think would be best for my parent if they lived in a nursing home?” The answer was yes. With what we’re learning each day about this virus; quite honestly we didn’t have a choice. Some of the most vulnerable, at-risk elders are entrusted to our care, and we had to make a difficult decision in their best interest, and in the best interest of our critical workforce that is working tirelessly to keep residents safe.
We know that these stringent measures to keep the Coronavirus out of our communities increase other risks to our elders such as isolation, and feelings of boredom, loneliness and helplessness. In addition to facilitating frequent communication between our residents and their loved ones, we will coordinate with family members and offer face-to-face communication through technology such as Skype and FaceTime. We also recognize that our visitors, volunteers, programs and activities are important components of quality of life for our residents. As we adjust program and activities schedules, we will work to incorporate creative solutions for residents to have access to meaningful activities without increased risk of exposure to illness, and we will explore ways that the community can help support these efforts.
We will continue to monitor this evolving situation and we will share updates and other helpful information on our website at www.agrhodes.org.
Thank you for your support,
