Community Foundation of Howard County Celebrates 25 years and the power of forever

In 1989, Mike Spear, director of the United Way of Howard County, knew there was room in Howard County for a united way and a community foundation.

Spear’s previous position was with the United Way of Greater Lafayette and Tippecanoe County and was aware of the work of the Community Foundation of Greater Lafayette.  This planted the seed for the current Community Foundation of Howard County and 25 years of ‘Creating a Legacy, One Branch at a Time.’ Go to article.

Donors Give to Create a Better Future
Lilly Endowment match initiative ended March 31

We want to thank our donors for their support during the past 20 months of Lilly Endowment’s Giving Indiana Funds for Tomorrow (GIFT) match initiative.  The match was announced for Indiana community foundations Aug. 1, 2014, and ended March 31, 2016.

We have had a successful GIFT match campaign in all three counties.  With this success in mind, we have direction from Lilly Endowment that we have to wait for final report approval from them before an official announcement can be made.  Howard County’s goal was $1 million and Carroll and Clinton counties match goal was $500,000 each. Giving Through Your IRA

Why Make an IRA Charitable Rollover Gift?
If you are 70½  or older, you can make a gift from your IRA account to help support the Community Foundation Serving Howard, Carroll and Clinton Counties this year and benefit.

Congress has extended the IRA charitable rollover and made it permanent. An IRA rollover gift is a way for you to support our cause today without impacting your checking or savings account balance. Gifts made from your IRA (up to $100,000 per year) are not reportable as taxable income. They also qualify for your required minimum distribution which can lower your income and taxes.  Go to article.
