Career Navigator News is a weekly newsletter from your Career Navigator, Jami Schwickerath.

Hello!

The month has gone by quickly. I have been busy working on the State Farm Grant and the Youth Skills Training grant opportunity. Hopefully, they both will come through with success and monies. I am continually looking for grant opportunities the districts might qualify for. If you see something of relevance, please let me know.

Youth Skills Training

I have reached out to your districts asking about this grant opportunity for a CNA pathway for youth 16-17 years old. We are looking at an online curriculum with the clinical skill piece in the students' local communities. We are looking to nursing homes, long-term care facilities, and hospitals to host those clinicals. If you have connections to some of those businesses already, please let me know so I can follow up and continue to develop that conversation and relationship.
School Responsibiliites:
  • Educate students about career pathway
  • Provide industry specific training & education
  • Teacher assigned to act as liasion between school & business
  • Submit all required paperwork
Our Letter of Intent will be submitted November 4th.
FutureForward
I hope that while you were in FutureForward™ for manufacturing month, you also saw videos from other professionals. We have recorded informational interviews from various industries and have a number of great conversations. There are architects, lawyers, welders, and chefs to name a few. Log in today to see how else you can use the platform.

Magna Awards

Has your district taken the lead on breaking down barriers that prohibit equity and access? Have you seen a growth in students who may have been underserved due to race, ethnicity, gender, or intelligence? Do you have a successful story and practice to share? The National School Board Association is awarding grants for those districts who have focused on equity and had success. The grant nomination is due October 30th.
