GLMS Physicians Changing Policy
GLMS had 13 resolutions adopted at the 2019 KMA Annual Meeting.
Click here to read all the adopted resolutions.
On October 16th we held our Private Payer Roundtable which provided an opportunity for GLMS physicians and their staff to speak face-to-face with payer representatives from Anthem, Humana and United Healthcare, read more about it here.
Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist Dr. Christopher Peters advises what steps the families of at-risk youth can take to decrease the risk of suicide, including ensuring any firearms in the home are locked away, consulting a child’s primary care physician, or having a child assessed to see if they require therapy or other medication to help with anxiety or depression.

Senior Physicians Committee Features Uofl School of Medicine Dean Toni Ganzel, MD
On Tuesday, October 8, the GLMS Senior Physicians Committee welcomed guest speaker Dr. Toni Ganzel, Dean of the UofL School of Medicine (ULSOM).
Dr. Ganzel gave a snapshot of the medical school since its founding 183 years ago. “As I love to tell people, I think in our 183 years we have aged well; we have had phenomenal growth and transformative change, but our mission is the same: to improve the health of our patients and our community.”
She went on to further expand on ULSOM’s mission, explaining that it could be broken down into four parts: educating the next generation of physicians and scientists, conducting research that makes a difference in the lives of people, providing cutting-edge tertiary quaternary and primary care to our patients; and partnering with our community towards shared goals of health.
Following her presentation, Dr. Ganzel accepted questions from the senior physicians in attendance. We thank her for sharing with us the accomplishments and future goals of the UofL School of Medicine.
