2 Corinthians 8:9
For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich.
New International Version (NIV)
Have you finished your shopping for Christmas?  I am trying not to wait until the last minute again.  A few minutes at the mall today reminded me of how hard it is to find the perfect gift in the hectic crowd of shoppers.
The greatest gift of all was given by our gracious God.  Paul knows the Corinthians and all Christians know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ.  His gift was expensive, costing him everything.  For our sake he divested himself of all he had.  “You left your throne and your kingly crown when you came down to earth for me.”
What happens when we receive the gift?  In a stunningly radical reversal we move from our spiritual poverty to great spiritual wealth.  We become rich through Christ’s poverty.  How so?  Does this promise that all believers will accumulate great wealth?  No.  Before Christ we had no real wealth at all, regardless of our so-called net worth.  But in Christ, we gain access to the bank of grace which never runs out.  He gave all of his all so that we would have everything we need in Christ.
How selfish would we be if we did not share this gift of grace?  Give grace to someone today.  Everyone on your list, especially those who are not on your list will need grace.  Your giving will not diminish God’s supply in the least.  Happy giving!  Merry Christmas!
Pray with me:
Father, give us a glimpse of your grace.  Show our souls what it cost you to give up your only Son for us.  Help us not only to open the gift of grace but to share it with everyone we love, and everyone we don’t love.  Help us not to waste your magnificent gift of grace to us.  In Jesus’ name we pray.  Amen.
I want to invite you to join me in memorizing 52 passages this year from the 2017 set of Fighter Verses.  You can find the Fighter Verses App at the App Store on your phones or via this link  http://fighterverses.com/the-verses/fighter-verses/As we study the Bible this year, let's look at each text and learn what it says about God.
