Nehemiah 6:2-4
Sanballat and Geshem sent me this message: “Come, let us meet together in one of the villages on the plain of Ono.”But they were scheming to harm me;  so I sent messengers to them with this reply: “I am carrying on a great project and cannot go down. Why should the work stop while I leave it and go down to you?”  Four times they sent me the same message, and each time I gave them the same answer.
New International Version (NIV)
Do not be distracted!  Nehemiah served God with singular purpose.  With the commission of the king, he returned to Jerusalem to rebuild the wall.  There he met opposition from two powerful opponents.

Whenever we seek to obey God we will face opposition.  Nehemiah’s confidence in God’s calling clarified his response.  Knowing our purpose in life frees us from fear of what others think.

What has God asked you to do?  By all means do that!  I John 4:4 says, “the One who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.”
Pray with me:
Father, remind us of your purpose for our lives.  Help us to live undistracted lives as we follow your plan today.  Strengthen our hands today, we pray in Jesus’ name.  Amen.
This year we focus our Every Day with Jesus readings on Jesus’ story.  With references to Tallowood's Read Through the Bible in 2018 daily reading plan, let's focus our undivided attention on Jesus and follow where he lead. He will not fail. Neither will we!

Joyfully,
