Gratitude and continued musings on Voice & Choice
Gratitude and continued musings on Voice & Choice
Dear Friend,
In Upstream Arts classes, every voice and every choice are honored. We often make collaborative paintings; each person adds their paint strokes through a process of creative and colorful turn taking. Yesterday, Mike, an elementary student in one of our programs, wasn't ready to get up in front of the rest of the class to add his brushstrokes. So the canvas came to him, and he was able to choose a color (red!) and paint what he was feeling from his seat. His contribution was a vital part of making the whole.

Imagine if Mike's voice were missing from the composition; the painting would not work in the same way. For Upstream Arts, YOU are that splash of red: an integral part of what we do. Thank you for being part of our community! Your contributions are vital.
With the support of 69 incredible individuals on Give to the Max Day, we are able to bring another Upstream Arts residency online, reaching more students like Mike. We have until December 31 to close the remaining gap of $14,964 and reach 11 more classrooms who are waiting.
With abundant thanks for all that you do!
Julie, Matt, Bree, and everyone at Upstream Arts
