Thanks to All!
Our third annual Hoo-Rah Day was an incredible success thanks to all our passionate and generous supporters! We're so proud of the Central College family for showing its Central spirit and supporting what it loves.
More than $218,000 was given to support programs across campus including more than $196,000 for scholarships. In addition, 39 initiatives were supported by 329 alumni, 167 current and past parents, 80 employees and 56 students with several donors having more than one affiliation. Donors represented 33 states in the U.S. and the gift that came from the farthest away was from married alumni in Japan!

Alumni Profile
Meet Dave Helmick '79
Current Town: Klein, Texas
Education: Major: Political science.
Master's degree, Baylor University, international business.
About me: I grew up near the banks of the Cedar River in Waterloo, Iowa, and graduated from Central High School. My dad worked for John Deere. My first encounter with Central College was during a Foreign Language Day event where I remember singing "Eres Tû" in front of a fairly big crowd. Central College had a table set up at the exhibit hall and I was briefed on how wonderful it was. A few months later, while in Venezuela as an exchange student, I received a letter expressing interest in me as a prospective student from Dr. Wing, the head of the Spanish department. I applied and was accepted at Central while still in Venezuela. I was interviewed as a Rolscreen Scholarship candidate but, I missed it by that much!

19th Annual Scholarship Dinner

On Thursday, April 25, hundreds of students and parents met with their scholarship donors at the annual Scholarship Dinner. Guest speaker Amy Dietrich Eilers '88, a former Rolscreen Scholarship recipient, shared her memories of Central and what the scholarship meant to her. Her interactive talk sparked conversations among the nearly 600 attendees on why they are grateful for Central College.

Congratulations!

The Central College Theatre Department earned 10 commendations between three performances at the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival this year for "Anon(ymous)," "Blithe Spirit" and "Merry Christmas, Strega Nona."
