Check out why the students say that camp is fire!
Our 3-Steps Ahead Summer Camp is so hot that our younger students at Oak Springs made paper popsicles!

Operation Xcel has been busy organizing and facilitating age-appropriate summer programs in which students practice and learn new skills. The students have a full week of lessons in science, math, art, and technology. They also go swimming and on a field trip each week. It is obvious that the teachers crafted creative lesson strategies to make learning fun. The days fly by because they are packed with activities. In the words of the younger generation, summer camp at Operation Xcel is “fire”!
The English and Language Arts class at Jamestown focused on learning the components of a Shakespeare play to aid in writing skills. Students noted the differences between Operation Xcel and traditional schooling. One student mentioned the feeling of being compelled to learn in regular school, while finding learning enjoyable with Operation Xcel.
The goal is to have students embrace learning as an essential life skill. The Rise 6th - 8th and 9th grade, and 3 Steps Ahead programs have left students with a positive attitude toward learning. As the students prepare to return to school, the hope is that Operation Xcel students will demonstrate retained knowledge from the previous year and be ahead of the curve because of their participation in learning activities over the summer.
